Description
- Recognizes human KIM-1
- KIM-1 (Kidney injury molecule 1, Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 1, HAVCR, T-cell immunoglobulin, mucin domain 1, TIM-1) is a class I integral membrane glycoprotein with ectodomain containing Ig-like domain and mucin domain
- Acts as membrane receptor for HAV
- Provides costimulatory signal for T cell activation and inhibits development of peripheral tolerance
- Involved in regulation of asthma and allergic diseases
- Reported KIM-1 shed into urine after acute kidney damage
- Marker of renal tubular injury
Process:
- Antibody specific for KIM-1 pre-coated onto microwells
- KIM-1 protein in samples captured by the coated antibody after incubation
- After extensive washing, another antibody specific for KIM-1 is added to detect captured KIM-1 protein
- For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent
- Solution containing sulfuric acid used to stop color development and color intensity
- Proportional to quantity of bound protein, measurable at 450 nm with correction wavelength set at 630 nm
