PAPR Cartridges and Filters
PAPR Cartridges and Filters
Powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) replaceable particulate filters and vapor cartridges are designed to fit directly into PAPR blower assemblies, facepieces, or headpieces to help protect against dust, particles, and certain gases and vapors in a variety of hazardous environments. They are rated based on the type of contaminant and the percentage of contaminants removed before filtered air reaches the worker. Filters remove dry particulates such as dust. Cartridges remove vapors and gases such as paint thinner and welding vapors.
PAPR filters and cartridges are tested and NIOSH-approved for compatibility and usage. Correct product selection depends on the environment(s) in which the product will be used, and the type(s) of hazard(s) or risk(s) expected to be present.
Product service life depends on many factors, including environmental conditions, breathing rate, cartridge filtering capacity, and the quantity of contaminants in the air. Regulatory compliance details can be obtained at the individual product level and should be scrutinized during selection.
