Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a benchtop and a portable pH meter?
Benchtop pH meters normally have larger screens and electrode arms for positioning the sensor steadily in the sample. They often come with more additional features than the portable pH meters.
What do I need to know before buying a benchtop pH meter?
Make sure that the pH meter of choice meets your measurement needs, whether it be pH, conductivity or dissolved oxygen concentration. Don't forget to add in a sensor if one is required. A ready-to-use kit is a great option as it includes all the necessary tools, such as the meter, a sensor and the calibration solutions, that you would need in order to get started with your measurements.
What is pH?
pH is a measurement of how acidic or alkaline a solution is on a scale of 0 to 14. A pH level of 7 indicates a solution is neutral. A pH level below 7 indicates a solution is acidic and a pH level above 7 indicates it is alkaline. The closer to 0, the more acidic and the closer to 14, the more alkaline.
