Description
Grignard reagent Phenylmagnesium bromide is an important reagent called as Grignard reagent used in the synthesis of organic and oraganometallic reactions. It is used to prepare phenyl aryl sulphides, sulphoxides, and sulphones. It acts as a strong acid and Lewis acid and undergoes addition reaction with many unsaturated functional groups. It is involved in the synthesis of end-functionalized regioregular poly(3-alkylthiophene)s, 1,3,3-trimethyl-6-phenyl-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-6-ol, o-substituted benzophenones and 6-benzyl-1,3,3-trimethyl-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-6-ol. In addition to this, it is used for the monalkylation of primary amines to get secondary amines.
